Denmark’s Solar-Powered Herstedlund Center is a Vibrant Community Hub

    Denmark's Community Center Herstedlund boasts a refined modern facade that is every bit as dynamic as its interior. The project features a skate board ramp and a rock climbing wall that can be be used by the local community at any time of day, and the building's facade is composed of a combination of opaque and translucent panels that allow for plenty of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylighting">daylighting</a> throughout the year. Located in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albertslund">Alberstlund</a>, the center was designed by <a href="http://www.dortemandrup.dk/">Dorte Mandrop Arkitekter Architects</a>, who envisioned the project as a sort of contemporary tree at the edge of the glades.

    The interior of the building is flexible enough to change and grow with the surrounding community.

    The center can be used around the clock for activities such as teaching, dancing, sports, yoga, and barbeques.
