Sra Pou Vocational SchoolRecently completed, the Sra Pou Vocational School in Cambodia shows off the use of local and natural materials and provides a space to teach residents of the local community a means of income. Designed and built by a young Finnish architecture firm, Architects Rudanko + Kankkunen, the two story school utilizes local dirt for the red bricks and an open air design to ensure ventilation. Local people received on the job training and built the school entirely by hand.1

The entire project was built by local laborers who received training on the job, and now a local non-profit operates out of the building and is teaching villagers how to earn a living.12

Sra Pou Vocational SchoolThe results of the duo's work are not only the amazing community center and school, but they also began their own architecture firm - Architects Rudanko + Kankkunen, and we are looking forward to more of their work. The firm is also part of a Finnish architecture humanitarian NGO called Ukumbi.14
