Dwell on Design Modern Living Prefab Showhouse To Be Auctioned Off On Ebay

Start working on your online auctioning techniques because another prefabulous home is <a href="http://cgi3.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&amp;userid=dwellondesign" target="_blank">up for sale on eBay</a>. The <a href="http://www.ecofabulous.com/modernliving/" target="_blank">Modern Living Showhouse</a> was recently exhibited at <a href="http://inhabitat.com/the-best-of-dwell-on-design-2011-reporting-straight-from-la/dod2011-02/">this year's Dwell on Design</a> and just like last year's model, we're sure this one is going to sell like hotcakes. Designed by Jonathan Davis of <a href="http://inhabitat.com/piecehomes-ph-for-a-balanced-home/">pieceHomes</a>, built by <a href="http://www.onebuildinc.com/" target="_blank">OneBuild Inc.</a>, and styled by Zem Joaquin of <a href="http://www.ecofabulous.com/" target="_blank">Ecofabulous</a>, this year's DOD small living prefab is chock-full of eco-goodies and technologies. The auction kicks off on July 5th and lasts through the 15th with all proceeds from the sale going to <a href="http://www.globalgreen.org/" target="_blank">Global Green USA</a>.

After last year's success with the Reclaimed Space prefab, which sold on eBay for $75,000, Ecofabulous decided to do another.

This time they teamed up with Seattle prefab builder OneBuild and LA-based prefab designer, pieceHomes.

The 550 sq ft house includes a kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom, which was built completely off site and then trucked into the LA convention center for the Dwell on Design show.

The compact home makes use of varied ceiling heights and lots of natural daylight to make it seem bigger than it really is.

Surprisingly enough, the home features a concrete subfloor with radiant heating, which is not usually typical for prefab homes.

Product sponsors like Electrolux donated materials and appliances to outfit the eco prefab home, which also included plyboo cabinets, cork flooring, Lumens LED lights, FSC-certified and low maintenance EcoClad cladding, recycled-content IceStone counters, Modwalls recycled-content tile, and much more.

Joaquin worked her magic and completely styled the home, which features furniture from HD Buttercup. The home also features rooftop solar panels.
