• Chalet K
If you feel like rectangular floorplans are so very last Friday, check out this spectacular circular home in the Austrian mountains. Called Chalet K, the glass and steel structure is wrapped in a facade of timber, which both shields it from the sun's rays and gives it a rustic feel that tones down its modern appeal just enough to match its setting. Designed by Kleboth Lindinger Partners, the decidedly unconventional house also has a sheltered rooftop terrace on the top floor where the owners can admire the mountainous view.

Located in Vandans, Austria, the home has a circular floor plan that allows the spaces within to feel private even though they are essentially all connected.

The kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom and bathroom all co-exist on one open-concept level, but maintain their separate identities due to the curve of the circle.

On the lower level, the home's owners can make use of the porch and the sauna.

During the day, the whole home is drenched in natural light, minimizing the need for electricity.
