• 6 of the Creepiest buildings
In our years of writing about green building, we've come across some super spooky designs, so we decided to compile a list of our favorite 6 just in time for halloween. We think you'll be surprised to find everything from futuristic homes made of meat tissue to a creepy treehouse in Vietnam, and if you're feeling especially industrious, these projects might just inspire you to create your very own haunted house!

The GEOtube was designed by Faulders Studio for a specific site in Dubai. Situated very close to the salty Persian Gulf, this building has a creepy saline skin that appears to grow on its own. Water from the Gulf is transported to the building via a 4.62 km buried pipeline and then misted onto the envelope. Once the water evaporates, all that is left behind is this web-like salt crystal structure!

Nothing is more frightening to the imagination than sharing space with hundreds of dead bodies, and while we don’t recommend you try that at home, you can at this ancient crypt in London that has been reborn as a The Crypt Gallery. Located in London's St. Pancras Parish Church and host to 557 grave sites, the gallery is ideal among artists who are interested in a moody, ghoulish venue to display their art.

If you have any spare x-rays lying around, why not follow Wim Delvoye's lead and make crazy windows for your own haunted house? The artist has turned a pile of discarded x-rays into what look like ordinary stained glass windows that are in fact covered in bones and skeletons. Amazingly, x-rays reflect light in the same way as colored glass. This will really creep out the neighbors!

Maybe you won't have time to make it to Dalat, Viet Nam in time for Halloween, but if you're already there, we can almost guarantee that the Hang Nga treehouse will have you looking over your shoulder for ghosts. Named after the architect who designed the guesthouse, Hang Viet Nga, it also has theme rooms, a monkey cage, outdoor balconies, and a sculpture garden.

If you aren't already suffering from halloween anxiety, we have another spooky eco-house for you. Fondly called the Dragspelhuset by locals in Southern Sweden, the accordion house has one room that stretches out over a nearby stream. Owned by the designers of 24H Architecture, this solar-powered home is totally off the grid. (Read... nobody will find you there.)

We can't tell if this last house is creepy or just plain gross. Maybe it's both, but in either case, it's a great concept for halloween. Made from "victimless" animal tissue that Mitchell Joachim from Terreform is currently growing in a lab, the bizarre In Vitro Meat Habitat redefines what is considered an ideal building material.
