Coca-Cola Crate Man in Cape TownWe are always a little suspicious of major corporations that preach the three Rs, but we were pretty impressed to stand at the feet of this towering crate man constructed out of thousands of empty Coca-Cola crates. Named Elliot, the giant lives at Cape Town's V&A Waterfront and has almost as much presence as the majestic Table Mountain behind "him." Back in 2010, the first Coca-Cola man was constructed in Johannesburg in order to increase the firm's visibility during the FIFA World Cup, but Cape Town's larger, taller, and sitting crate man was designed by Porky Hefer to draw attention to the ever-increasing importance of recycling both cans and plastic bottles.1
