Pablo Curutchet’s Monstrous Recycled Cardboard Box Man Emerges from the Water

    Built to monstrous proportions -- but using an eco-friendly material -- Box is a massive man made from recycled cardboard boxes. Created by artist <a title="Argentine Artist Pablo Curutchet Creates Massive Recycled Cardboard Box Man and Puppies" href="http://pablocurutchet.com.ar/" target="_blank">Pablo Curutchet</a> with the help of some friends, this terrific street installation has popped up in the city center of <a title="Argentine Artist Pablo Curutchet Creates Massive Recycled Cardboard Box Man and Puppies" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%B3rdoba,_C%C3%B3rdoba_Province" target="_blank">Córdoba</a>, in Argentina. The giant recycled creature measures 8.5 meters high and appears to be emerging from the local stream ready to explore the city.

    Box was constructed from 882 pounds of packaging boxes taped together creating awareness of the endless possibilities of the humble material.

    It was made by artist Pablo Curutchet and ten of his friends using Cartocor´s cardboard boxes and built first in a local warehouse then placed on site.

    Erected using ropes on a dark winter night, Box finally stood up under the astonished looks of Cordoba´s passers-byes.

    But Box has two gods friends that were commissioned by Argentine businessman Alan Faena to be installed at a park in the Puerto Madero area of Buenos Aires.

    Dubbed Simpático (Friendly) these 6.5-foot high puppies were placed in the right environment to play and to be enjoyed by people.

    Made from a sustainable material that is light, common, flat pack and low-cost, these magnificent big-scale man and dogs will survive until it rains on them.
