The Interims Audimax Lecture Hall in Munich is Encased In an Undulating Wooden Facade

The Interims Audimax is a wooden lecture hall in <a href="http://portal.mytum.de/welcome/">Munich's Technical University </a> that is finished with a facade of rough-cut spruce planks which appear to delicately ripple in the light. Architecture studio <a href="http://www.deubzerkoenig-rimmel.de/">Deubzer Konig + Rimmel</a> created the temporary structure to accommodate the University's growing number of students. Built with a limited budget—just 60% of normal building costs—the structure itself is simple, but the exterior is made up of an elegant undulating surface.

The Interims Audimax is designed to last up to 20 years.

The facade's black wood stain serves to minimize any appearance of the wood's natural aging

Deubzer Konig + Rimmel's design not only serves as a functional lecture hall but creates a dynamic temporary solution to Munich Technical University's increased classroom needs.

Two lecture rooms are divided by a useful corridor which allows handicapped access.

Inside, the practical space consists of two lecture halls containing 479 and 288 seats.

Beneath these are the foyer, bathrooms and technical facilities, helping to maximise on space usage.
