Velo Towers by Asymptote ArchitectureWith innovative designs from some of the best architectural talent on Earth, the Yongsan International Business District in Seoul, South Korea is shaping up to be one of the most exciting skyscraper developments in the world. This week saw the unveiling of yet another pair of boundary-pushing skyscrapers - the Velo Towers by New York-based Asymptote Architecture. The striking towers consist of a series of stacked, rounded masses that are topped with roof gardens and connected near the top by a large skybridge.1
Velo Towers by Asymptote ArchitectureAsymptote Architecture's round, offset Velo Towers offer an interesting alternative to typical skyscraper designs, resembling rotating parts on a machine.2
Velo Towers by Asymptote ArchitectureBoth the interior residential units and external facades have been designed to be built using prefabricated parts.3

Velo Towers by Asymptote ArchitectureSkybridges and twin towers figure to be common design themes in the Yongsan Business District. The Velo Towers will be located near MVRDV's controversial Cloud Towers (which some say resemble the 9/11 terrorist attacks), as well as BIG's interlocking Cross # Towers.5
Velo Towers by Asymptote ArchitectureThe two towers will contain a total of 500 apartments that will range in size from 45 square meters to 82 square meters.6
Velo Towers by Asymptote ArchitectureBy breaking down the scale and massing of the two distinct towers into interconnected circular and oblong volumes, the Velo project proposes an alternative architectural and urbanistic response to the repetitive and monolithic austerity of conventional tower design," explains Asymptote Architecture.7
