In en effort to transform waste into functional objects, Australian design firm Studio Levant has produced a full line of tables and desks that are made from recycled shipping pallets and recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastics. "The pallets themselves are quite detailed, so the designers have decided to keep it simple and use bold colors to give each peace a character," writes Ivan Levant. The pallets used to make the pieces are made from wood harvested from sustainably managed forests that is free from copper, cadmium and arsenic. The resulting pieces of furniture have clean lines and warm tones, and thanks to heavy-duty caster wheels, they are easy to move and rearrange.
