Timber Shoffice is a Naturally Daylit Garden Shed + Office Combo in London

The UK has a thing for <a href="http://inhabitat.com/humble-hackney-shed-is-a-peaceful-office-space-in-a-london-garden/" target="_blank">garden sheds</a> and <a href="http://inhabitat.com/prefab-friday-archipods-spherical-garden-office-pod/" target="_blank">backyard offices</a> and the new <a href="http://platform5architects.com/projects/residential/shoffice/" target="_blank">Shoffice</a> is a brilliant example. Combination shed + office, the Shoffice is the handiwork of London firm, <a href="http://platform5architects.com/" target="_blank">Platform 5 Architects</a>, who were inspired by the curl of a wood shaving when designing the space. Naturally daylit from two skylights and built from timber, the office has a close connection with the garden and an even closer commute from the kitchen.

The Shoffice is located in the backyard of a 1950's terraced house in St John’s Wood in northwest London.

Designed by <a>Platform 5 Architects</a>, who worked closely with the structural engineer and contractor, the combo garden shed and office provides space for storage and working.

Inspired by the curl of shaved wood, the office is like a wooden wave and a sculptural work the flows into the garden.

The thick elliptical shell is built from timber and forms a small deck space in front then curves up and over the office and garden storage space.

Two skylights, one open and one glazed provide even more daylighting into the office space.

The office is enclosed with glazing and features a built-in cantilever desk, storage and oak accents.
