Deutsche Bahn and MTU are testing the prototype of the MTU Hybrid Powerpack in a type 642 railcar. The aim of the test is to verify that this technology offers medium and long-term economic and ecological advantages to the rail industry by facilitating a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 25% and emissions-free operation in station areas.

  • MTU Hybrid-Powerpack
