Gubbins Arquitectos’s Casa Mava House is Built into a Hillside Overlooking the Ocean in Chile

    Casa Mava is a striking home made from timber and concrete that's built into a hillside in Beranda, Chile. Santiago-based <a href="http://www.gubbinsarquitectos.cl/" target="_blank">Gubbins Arquitectos</a> designed the space to be open and airy, with the internal atmosphere reflecting the truly calming views of the Pacific Ocean. It incorporates grainy surfaces and timber screens to offset the residence's natural surroundings, while a serene terrace extends out to the ocean below.

    Connecting the two spaces is a large wooden deck that reaches out to the uninterrupted horizon.

    This acts as an outdoor extension of the open-plan living room and kitchen as well as a roof for the guesthouse.

    A repeated pattern of reinforced concrete walls rise rhythmically both horizontally and vertically.
