This time he's created an intricate wooden structure for the Nine Bridges Golf Club House in Seoul. The light-filled building makes beautiful use of a minimal material palette while referencing local traditions.

Located an hour's drive south of Seoul, the clubhouse for this 18-hole golf course stands out for its elegance and intricate design.

Taking full advantage of advanced technologies in woodworking and technology, the<a title="Shigeru Ban’s Gorgeous Golf Club House is Inspired by Traditional Bamboo Cushions" href="http://inhabitat.com/shigeru-bans-carbon-neutral-tamedia-office-fits-together-like-building-blocks/" target="_blank"> Japanese architect</a> simplified the assembly process using modular components.

The wooden grid shell is supported by a series of columns and is surrounded by local stone and big windows that let plenty of light in.

Created in collaboration with<a title="Shigeru Ban’s Gorgeous Golf Club House is Inspired by Traditional Bamboo Cushions" href="http://www.kaci-int.com/" target="_blank"> Kaci International</a> the clubhouse has three floors and a basement.

Completed in 2010, the wooden structure’s <a title="Shigeru Ban’s Gorgeous Golf Club House is Inspired by Traditional Bamboo Cushions" href="http://inhabitat.com/colorful-hexagonal-wall-tiles-made-from-sound-absorbing-wood-wool/" target="_blank">hexagonal</a> shape was inspired by traditional Korean summer cushions called <a title="Shigeru Ban’s Gorgeous Golf Club House is Inspired by Traditional Bamboo Cushions" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamboo_wife" target="_blank">"bamboo wife".</a>

Using the pillow’s same concept, the structure allows the breeze to flow through the interiors, is sturdy, and is also made from natural sustainable materials.
