Just a couple of days ago, the nearby Fox River flooded its banks due to continuous rain and above-freezing temperatures, surrounding the house with water. The house is no stranger to floods - in 2008 rising waters caused severe damage to the house, which makes this week's incident even more alarming. Fortunately, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, who runs the house, says that the water has not breached either the lower or upper decks of the house, though they have taken emergency flood measures in case it does.1
