Anton Alvarez is a Swedish-Chilean designer based in London and Stockholm. A recent graduate of theRoyal College of Art’s Design Products MA, he developed ‘Wrapping Machine’, a cool contraption that builds furniture by wrapping colorful thread firmly around blocks of waste wood. He will officially debut his new Wrapping Machine designs next week at the Milan Furniture Fair.

We first spotted Anton Alvarez’s wrapped furniture last summer when he was presenting his unique pieces and the self-made machine at the RCA’s Design For The Real World exhibition. He was busy this past winter developing new ideas for the machine which he will be presenting at two events during Milan Design Week: NOMADISMI, curated by Raffaelle Carreri and Dutch Trends pioneer Lidewij Edelkoort; and WORKs which will feature designs from young creatives based in London, UK.
