Dirk Vander Kooij Chubby ChairInhabitat favorite <a href="http://www.dirkvanderkooij.nl" target="_blank">Dirk Vander Kooij</a> showed off his brand-new, candy-colored Chubby Chairs at <a href="http://inhabitat.com/icff/" target="_blank">ICFF</a> this week. The new model is a slim-backed chair made from <a href="http://inhabitat.com/dirk-vander-kooijs-repurposed-robot-prints-endless-furniture-from-recycled-e-waste/" target="_blank">pulverized recycled refrigerators</a> and e-waste that is perfect for the office or a dining table. Printed by Vander Kooij’s <a href="http://inhabitat.com/dirk-van-der-kooijs-spectacular-3d-printer-robot-places-finished-furniture-outside-his-shop-window/" target="_blank">3D printing robot named Fanuc</a>, the waste created during the production of Chubby Chairs is upcycled into a new line of Chubby Coat Hangers.1
Dirk Vander Kooij Chubby ChairWith a wall sized photograph of Fanuc watching over the booth, Vander Kooij’s Chubby Chairs were splayed around their shipping pallet perches. Each chair is made from <a href="http://inhabitat.com/films-on-fridges-outdoor-cinema-made-entirely-from-recycled-refrigerators-pops-up-in-london/" target="_blank">recycled plastic from refrigerators</a>, ground down into a paste and printed layer by layer, gradually building up the components of the chair.2

Dirk Vander Kooij Chubby ChairEven the waste from the production of Chubby Chairs is reused- making one of a kind Chubby Coat hangers. When the robot is changing colors, the excess left over is then repurposed into <a href="http://inhabitat.com/lucrimas-creates-a-beautiful-coat-hanger-from-recycled-glass-bottles/" target="_blank">candy cane-like hangers</a>, which come in sets up six in assorted colors.4

Dirk Vander Kooij Chubby ChairAlso on site was the <a href="http://inhabitat.com/brilliant-satellite-floor-lamp-is-made-entirely-of-ground-up-recycled-cd-cases/" target="_blank">Satellite floor lamp</a>, recently revealed at Milan Design week, and is made from recycled CD cases.6
