Adventurous travelers visiting Amsterdam can now stay in the Volkshotel, a quirky hotel that offers a set of unusual digs. One of the recently completed "Special Rooms" is the Edmund, a tiny hotel pod built "for the intrepid adventurer." Abstracted from the shape of a mountain, this blocky and compact wood-and-rubber unit was designed in collaboration by architects Jasper Eustace and Jos Blom.

The highlight of the unit is the "pinnacle bathtub" accessible via a small flight of stairs.

The Edmund design clusters all the hotel necessities like a bed, bathroom, and storage space into a jigsaw-like mass that mimics the form of a snow-capped mountain.

In contrast to the light wooden unit, the walls are painted in a striped green pattern inspired by the colors of a cactus garden.
