Bardessono Eco Hotel Awarded LEED Platinum Certification

Last year, Inhabitat covered the construction of the <a href="http://inhabitat.com/bardessono-napa-valleys-newest-eco-resort/" target="_blank">luxurious Bardessono Hotel</a> in Napa Valley with its cornucopia of environmentally friendly measures -- from automated thermostats and LED lighting to salvaged local materials and solar and geothermal renewable energy. This year, <a href="http://www.bardessono.com/" target="_blank">Bardessono</a> was awarded LEED Platinum Certification, the highest standard of environmental design.

Bardessono is one of the only three hotels in the world to have achieved LEED Platinum certification.

In addition to being LEED Platinum certified, Bardessono offers carbon fiber bicycles and on site producing gardens.

The eco boutique hotel's restaurant emphasizes local, farm-fresh ingredients.

Bardessono's rooftop pool offers loungers and diners spectacular views of Napa.

Many of the property's landscaped features are made from rammed earth to celebrate the local soils.

Existing limestone from a former wine cellar was reused to create large sections of the building's exterior.

Natural light and LEDs supply most of the eco hotel's lighting needs.

Woods used throughout the hotel are milled from salvaged trees and an emphasis was placed on non-toxic materials during construction.

The 200kw flat rooftop system provides half the property’s total energy usage, offsetting 21,000 gallons of oil and preventing 400,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions each year.
