The first of two micro hotels planned for the New York area, the Hudson Square Arlo Hotel has more than 300 rooms that measure less than 200-square-feet each. Despite their diminutive size, the rooms offer sophisticated design and optimize the use of their limited space. Flip-down desks, compact shower stalls, and cleverly-designed storage solutions make the spaces livable and comfortable, and give guests a little taste of what living in a tiny home might be like.

Developer Quadrum Global recently launched the new hotel venture based on the idea that, in a city as lively as NYC, guests tend to spend minimal time in their hotel rooms anyway. According to a hotel press release, “Each Arlo Hotel boasts a multitude of joyful, inclusive public spaces built to accommodate a variety of environments and needs with a flurry of activities throughout the day. Guests can socialize and relax, listen to music, play board games, work and meet, or dine and drink in the common spaces, all while connecting and interacting with other guests.”
Of course, if you’re hoping that the hotel’s micro size is also reflected in its rates, think again. The rooms listed on Arlo Hudson Square’s website start at $339 per night and go up to $527.
