Even more intricate than the standard dollhouse, Wolfson’s sculptural vignettes show iconic delis, subway scenes, pizza shops and the seedy city blocks of the 1980s - all in amazing detail.1

Born and raised in the city, the artist decided to <a href="http://inhabitat.com/nyc/photos-miniature-nyc-landmarks-made-of-plants-pop-up-at-the-new-york-botanical-gardens-holiday-train-show/holiday-train-show-27/" target="_blank">recreate scenes from wandering around New York</a> from the past and present, all meticulously by hand using traditional model-making methods.2
Alan Wolfson Miniature NYCUsing a scale of ½ inch to one foot, every element and detail in the tableaus are made by Wolfson, sometimes taking up to nine months to complete the more detailed scenes.3

Showing a more recent and familiar New York is the Brooklyn Rooftop piece, which depicts what locals constitute as outdoor space, strewn with lawn chairs, mini pools and barbeques.6
