Kickstarter is the world's largest funding platform for creative projects, so it only made sense for its new headquarters to be just as forward-thinking as the innovative products it helps launch. We got our first glimpse at the start-up's new digs inside of the historic Eberhard Faber Pencil Co. factory in Greenpoint, Brooklyn last year, but now the expansive office complex by Ole Sondresen Architects is finally complete. Inhabitat recently toured the 29,000-square-foot adaptive reuse project and checked out all of the wonders within - including a library with old-school touches, a private movie theater, light-filled offices and an envy-inducing green roof. Come along and see them all for yourself in our photo gallery.

After purchasing the abandoned factory on Kent St., the Kickstarter team brought in Ole Sondresen Architects to transform it into their dream headquarters. Ole Sondresen also enlisted the help of designer Camille Finefrock with the landscaping and interior design.

Steel trusses from the former roof were re-used to frame a central courtyard that brings plenty of natural daylight into all levels of the interior and provides views of a fern grove, flowering trees, birds, butterflies and a rain chain.

Recycled denim insulation was also used throughout the structure and 40% recycled fly-ash was incorporated in all of the poured concrete structures. 80% reclaimed materials were used in the mill work package, and low-energy LED lighting was implemented in 95% of the light fixtures in the space.
