Our friends at GOOD in partnership with Beyond the Edge are holding a competition to design the gas stations of the future! Most of the designs don't even assume that we'll be using petroleum as a fuel source in the future, rather we'll be relying on mass transit, our own two feet and electric vehicles. Voting is going on right now for the top 5 designs and ends tomorrow, and we've selected our top 5 concepts. After checking out our favorites, hurry over to GOOD and nominate your favorite design - your favorite just might receive a good hunk of change.
The e.capsule concept, by Alex Dumler, is comprised of flexible and smaller gas stations powered by the sun and wind. The energy tree soaks up the wind, sun and rain to store energy in a capsule. The energy capsule is then taken from the tree and placed in the electric car to replace another capsule which has run out of energy.
And finally, Dave Pinter's E-Transportation Center, combines both mass transit with car sharing and electric vehicle recharging. Here an e-transportation center contains all the necessary elements for transportation.
