Angelina Jolie is rumored to have bought the beautiful Petre Island for Brad Pitt for his 50th birthday. The heart-shaped island went on the market in 2012 with a $19.9 million price tag, and it’s home to two houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright – reason enough to make the famous architecture aficionado and actor very happy.
The secluded island is located just 50 miles north of New York City, boasts a helicopter pad and is accessible from the mainland by boat. The two houses, a 1,200-square-foot cottage and a 5,000 main residence, are architectural masterpieces.
The main residence was built in 2008 following one of Wright’s final plans and is considered one of his most spectacular buildings. The house boasts 1,500 square feet of skylights, stone and mahogany. It also features the architect’s signature element- native rock built into the interior, even in the bathroom and kitchen.
Angelina Jolie bought a similar present for Pitt two years ago; that California property came with a waterfall.
