Lindal’s building system for custom homes follows a clear step-by-step process that is aided by your local Lindal dealer. After contacting your local dealer, you’ll be given a planning book for inspiration and a set of blocks to play with. Much like children’s building blocks, the Lindal Elements blocks can give you a sense of the home’s form and how much space you want – not to mention they’re fun. During the planning stages the dealer will help you design the perfect Lindal Elements for your family, site it for maximum energy efficiency on your lot, and help you choose green interior finishes.

Since the dealer is a NAHB Certified Green Professional, he or she will be able to best guide in your choice of green interior finishes, the right windows for your location and climate, and the best orientation and siting of the home for optimum passive solar design. They can also help locate and coordinate with special contractors that can install solar systems, rainwater collection systems, and any other green strategies you want to include in your home.

Every Lindal Cedar home comes with a number of sustainable design strategies and materials, like the use of young-growth trees as opposed to old-growth, engineered wood and building products, low-VOC stains, Energy Star windows, and the reduction of waste in factory and on-site construction. Lindal has also partnered with American Forests for the last 20 years to promote reforestation. The Lindal Elements series is naturally designed for passive solar performance, daylighting, natural ventilation, efficient resource management, and a super tight building envelope.

In addition, home buyers can opt for an even greener package that includes advanced framing, signature cedar windows, non-toxic RoastWood™ decking, and other resource-efficient upgrades. Your local Lindal Dealer can also assist you to achieve NAHB National Green Building Certification for your home. In fact, Lindal Cedar Homes was the first systems builder approved by the NAHB.

After working with your local Lindal dealer, playing with the blocks, and planning the home, your dealer will send off the plans for your home to the factory in Seattle. There, the parts and pieces for your home will be gathered together and shipped on a truck to your home’s site, where your local builder will construct the home with the assistance of your dealer and any other specialty contractors needed. Lindal and your dealer will be with you ever step of the way to ensure that your Lindal Elements home meets your every expectation.
