Getaway successfully launched their pilot program in Boston in 2015 and is now bringing their services to the Big Apple. The company’s 160-square-foot tiny cabins are designed by Harvard Graduate School of Design students and are equipped with all of the basic comforts of home. The cabins, Lorraine, Clara, and Ovida, all have a comfy queen bed, a stove, a toilet and shower. Renters can also find a collection of classic books and board games.
According to the team behind Getaway, the idea behind the project is to take people completely off-grid, but in a simple and comfortable way that encourages reconnecting to nature. As well as a relaxing experience in a beautiful natural setting, the rental service also gives New Yorkers the opportunity to experience the tiny home trend first-hand.
