JPDA’s Jordan Parnass, Anthony Moon and Sean Karns designed the millwork insertion specifically for the small space as a way to create separation between the living and sleeping areas without having to build an actual wall. Made of blonde wood that matches the floors of the apartment for a seamless look, the piece was prefabricated off-site by NR Wood Design and erected in the residence over the course of just one day.

The custom cube holds a queen mattress that can be accessed by shelves that double as steps. The various cutouts and ledges serve as a place to display knick knacks and hold books.
With the help of Workshop Design Build, JPDA also installed a storage unit with integrated desk along the wall of the studio. In addition to providing much-needed cabinet space, the extra-long surface serves as a mini office area for the apartment without taking up unnecessary space.
