Dutch designer Laurens Van Wieringen collects rejected plastic items from factories and scrap yards and turns them into functional psychedelic objects. His “Mixed” tableware is made by melting and sculpting polypropylene surplus into bowls, plates, and cutlery with a wonderful recycled aesthetic.

A graduate from London’s Royal College of Art, Laurens Van Wieringen is currently working to develop his novel recycling technique in his Amsterdam studio. He melts random polypropylene objects inside a mold using an electric oven and sculpts the multicolored blocks with a CNC machine. The result is a series of peculiar plastic landscapes that form a full line of tablewear.
