LEED Platinum and Green Roofed SAP America Headquarters

    Located in Newton Square, <a href="http://www.sap.com/usa/index.epx" target="_blank">SAP America</a>'s headquarters is the largest LEED Certified Platinum building in the State of Pennsylvania. Featuring an expansive <a href="../green-roof/" target="_blank">green roof</a> and tons of sustainable building strategies, the German software company's American headquarters recently earned LEED certification this past August. The 210,000 square-foot office building designed by <a href="http://inhabitat.com/2010/04/06/global-headquarters-for-wildlife-conservation-society-sits-lightly-on-the-earth/" target="_blank">FXFOWLE Architects</a> also features ice cooling, rainwater collection, and energy-efficient systems.

    Designed by FXFOWLE and completed in 2009, the SAP America Headquarters received LEED Platinum Certification in August of 2010.

    The building features a gorgeous south-facing atrium along the whole length of the building covered in wood louvers that shade the atrium in the summer and help heat it up in the winter.

    The building also features geothermal wells, an ice energy storage and cooling system, calibrated lighting systems, and underfloor air distribution.

    The rooftop features and expansive green roof, the buildings are landscaped with native and regional plants, and the whole complex is surrounded by a natural wooded area.
