Design Stories, a collaboration between Kerstin Sylwan and Jenny Stefansdotter, uses design to visualize and enable change. The studio often collaborates with not-for-profit and social organizations to test new ways to design and produce objects. “We use industrial waste and select recycled materials from local businesses and organizations and show their possibilities by creating interior products,” explains Kerstin Sylwan.

The Odd Table is a collection of old table and chair parts that have been given new life as a living room table – while still telling the story of the old. “The variation in materials inspires us in our design process, and we like to let the nature of the materials follow through into the final product,” adds Jenny Stefansdotter. Returhuset also does their bit for society – their manufacturing operation incorporates a job training program for the unemployed.
