In the developing world, many economic sectors have migrant workers, which poses a problem for housing solutions. The traditional approach towards housing results in either renting or living in a property in an undesirable area. Current housing solutions are extremely static and permanent, which doesn’t correlate with the migratory nature of the work. The MHU (Mobile Housing Unit) is a mobile housing that provides safe shelter and dignified living conditions for migrant workers. The unit’s main structure is a refurbished shipping container. Externally, composite insulation panels shield the main structure from direct heat build-up and being mounted externally increases internal space capacity. The unit is serviced by prefabricated bathroom and kitchen units. Water and electricity are generated by solar power and much of it can be flat packed for transportation.
