• Archtober 2015
Cozy cardigans, apple picking and pumpkin spice everything are all reasons to love October, but there's another reason we look forward to the tenth month of the year here in New York City--and you're missing out if you haven't heard about it yet. Organized by the Center for Architecture and American Institute of Architects New York Chapter (AIANY), Archtober is a month-long festival of architecture and design spanning all five boroughs with a full schedule of talks, tours and exhibitions celebrating our built environment. Whether you're a designer, architect or just someone who appreciates the beauty and functionality of the structures we live, work, and play in, there's something for everyone to enjoy. We rounded up some of Archtober's can't-miss events, from tours through some of the city's most sustainable buildings to a boozy LEGO building competition to a day of giving back through design. Read on to get all of these on your calendar!

  • Whitney Museum Archtober

BUILDING OF THE DAY TOURS
It's not hard to see why Archtober's Building of the Day tours are a fan favorite. Granting access to some of the city's most interesting structures--a different one for each day of October--the tours will give visitors the inside scoop on buildings they might never have stepped foot in otherwise. This year's subjects include the otherworldly New York Hall of Science Great Hall in Queens, the pristine World Trade Center Transportation Hub in Lower Manhattan, the fruitful NYCHA Red Hook West Urban Farm, the idyllic Staten Island Zoo Carousel Enclosure, Manhattan's iconic Flatiron building, the new Whitney Museum building on the High Line, the state-of-the-art Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in the Bronx, the National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion, and 23 other buildings that are just waiting to be explored. Check out the full schedule here.
