  • James Ramsey's Modern Loft Home
If you appreciate the feel of Old New York, you'll fall in love with the masterfully retrofitted 19th century Manhattan loft of <a href="http://inhabitat.com/nyc/index.php?s=lowline">LowLine park</a> co-founder James Ramsey. The 2,000-square-foot residence located on White Street in TriBeCa is a flawless blend of old and new. Designed by Ramsey, who is a principal at architecture firm <a href="http://inhabitat.com/nyc/index.php?s=raad">raad Studio</a>, the industrial loft was converted into a warm yet modern dwelling that preserves the character of its historic shell. Much of the original architecture has been repurposed throughout, including the windows, ceilings and brick walls. We recently got to sneak a peek at some of the home's exciting details during <a href="http://www.dwell.com/magazine">Dwell magazine</a>'s popular <a href="http://ny.dwellondesign.com/Attendee/Home/HomeTours">Manhattan home tours.</a>

Though the loft has a long, narrow feel, it is still quite spacious, including an open kitchen, dining room and living area, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a powder room.

All the millwork is custom-designed, featuring black granite kitchen counters as well as a marble and walnut island. Modern light fixtures drape over the kitchen and white tiling serves as a contrasting backdrop.
