Is this Chinese building a knockoff of Herzog and de Meuron’s “Jenga” tower?

A stealth investigation by NY Curbed has uncovered that the Chinese developer Wide Horizon is apparently a huge fan of Herzog and de Meuron's Jenga-esque tower found on 56 Leonard Street.

The Chinese company is so enamored with the design, they have basically copied the exact style to be built in the city of Chengdu.

Even more curious is that fact that the design for the China project, which is undeniably similar to the Herzog and de Meuron building, is by California-based 5+design.

The Jenga-tower version is undeniably similar to the Tribeca original.
