NYC’s Newest Shake Shack Features Reclaimed Furniture by DUMBO Designer Mark Jupiter

Prolific burger joint <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/shake-shack" target="_blank">Shake Shack</a> just opened the doors to its newest location in DUMBO - but there’s more than just delicious patties and crushed sugar cones to enjoy there. Furniture designer <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/mark-jupiter" target="_blank">Mark Jupiter</a>, one of our favorite woodworkers and winner of the <a href="http://inhabitat.com/mark-jupiter-wins-the-inhabitat-bklyn-designs-editors-choice-award/" target="_blank">Inhabitat BKLYN Designs Editors' Choice Award</a>, created a set of handmade tables and furniture from locally reclaimed wood to give they new eatery a unique and industrial-chic vibe. Each piece of furniture is branded with the Shake Shack burger symbol and was made from factory beams salvaged from old buildings in DUMBO.

Brooklyn-based builder Mark Jupiter is nationally acclaimed for his fine craftsmanship, commitment to sustainability, and for his work with New World Home.

All of Jupiter's custom-made furniture is handcrafted right in the heart of DUMBO at his newly expanded workshop and showroom.

To surround diners with a visual and functional display of DUMBO's industrial history, Jupiter crafted his custom furniture pieces from 400-year-old heart pine joists and beams salvaged from local construction sites, such as the defunct Brillo Soap and Arbuckle Coffee warehouses.

The furniture was made from factory beams salvaged from old buildings in DUMBO.

Located in a century-old brick building on 1 Old Fulton Street, the unique DUMBO Shake Shack interior also offers views of the Manhattan skyline and a cozy wood-burning stove.

Although this new location is only the second Shake Shack to have opened in Brooklyn, the burger empire reportedly has a third in the works to be located across from Barclays Center.
