The partnership between the city and <a href="http://housingworks.org/" target="_blank">Housing Works</a> thrift shops began placing <a href="http://inhabitat.com/nyc/textile-recycling-is-on-the-rise-thanks-to-re-fashionyc-apartment-building-collection-bins/" target="_blank">textile recycling bins in apartment buildings last year</a> and in that short time has already diverted 248,000 pounds of clothing from landfills!1
