VIA 57WEST: BIG’s distorted pyramid building is nearly complete

    It's been five years since <a href="http://www.big.dk/#projects-w57">Bjarke Ingels Group</a> first unveiled the design for its <a href="http://inhabitat.com/big-unveils-radically-sloped-west-57-residential-tower-in-nyc-today/">first residential project in NYC</a>, and now the unique, tetrahedron-shaped building on the water is nearly complete. Recently rechristened <a href="http://www.via57west.com/" target="_blank"> VIA 57WEST</a>, the angular structure centered around a serene courtyard is almost ready to welcome the lucky residents who get to live in its sun-soaked apartments.     The 709 units are a mix of sizes, with studios starting at $3,000 and large four bedroom apartments running a jaw-dropping $16,500 per month. Out of the 709 apartments, 142 will be affordable units that will start at $565 for a studio.

    As far as amenities, the building has a 22,000 square-foot open courtyard, filled with lush green space and planted with 50 plant species native to New York. .
