“The disproportionately high growth in the SUV segment gives us designers the opportunity to implement an even stronger diversification of models. In the CrossBlue Coupé we are showing the potential of our Volkswagen design DNA. This concept vehicle will undoubtedly have an influence on future SUV models,” stated Klaus Bischoff, Head of Design for the Volkswagen Brand.

The CrossBlue Coupe is the second VW concept this year that previews VW’s future SUV lineup. The CrossBlue Coupe is powered by a plug-in hybrid system that mates a V6 turbocharged engine with two electric motors here that generates a total 409 horsepower and accelerates it from 0-62 mph in 5.9 seconds. VW estimates that it will have a driving range of 740 miles and can also travel up to 20 miles in electric mode.
