Can you imagine what NYC would be like if half the cars on the road were to be swapped out for bicycles? It’s almost impossible to conceive of most cities without traffic jams, the ever-present cacophony of horns, and exhaust fumes billowing anywhere… but what if such a thing actually happened? Studies have shown that people who use bicycles as a primary means of transport are a lot healthier overall, with lower rates of obesity and cardiovascular illnesses, plus scaling back on inner-city car use would improve air quality and cut back on our use of fossil fuels. Although this infographic is based on information from the UK, it certainly gives us food for thought about how much of a difference could be made if bikes took precedence over cars in cities around the world.
