Unlike with most architecture awards, including the renowned Pritzker Prize, the organizers of the Architizer A+Awards decided to go against the grain and award no less than 129 projects from across the world. The second edition of the competition recognized the most innovative and engaging designs out there and brought into the spotlight works by emerging firms and less known innovators.

Besides projects designed by ‘starchitects’ like Zaha Hadid and BIG, among this year’s winners are People’s Architecture Office, with their remarkable Pop Up Habitat, Mexican Craft Arquitectos, who transformed a 1960s building into a luxury residential complex, and  Brooklyn-based STUDIOKCA, with a pavilion made from 53,780 recycled bottles.

The jury of over 300 industry leaders included Yves Béhar, Paola Antonelli, Liz Diller, Joseph Altuzarra, David Rockwell, Rem D. Koolhaas, and Ian Schrager, while an onlinepublic vote determined the winners of the Popular Choice Award.
