nce submerged, you have up to 70 minutes of oxygen.
Unlike the previous AS-1 model, the AS-2 can seat two, meaning you can bring a buddy along with you on your adventures. Once you’re sitting on the scooter, you lower a yellow, Darth Vader-esque helmet over your head, which lets you have a 99% distortion free view of the water around you. Once submerged, you have up to 70 minutes of oxygen.
Able to travel at speeds up to 3.1mph, the AS-2 isn’t the zippiest, but honestly, who would want to zoom underwater at 30mph with goodness knows what going on around you? The scooter runs on a rechargeable battery, which can last up to 2.5 hours. The AS-2 is lighter and faster than its predecessor, and can dive to a maximum depth of up to 12 meters.

They could use this as an underwater wheel chair for handicdap tourists and when it reaches the surface it can transform into a jet ski!
I good idea for us oldies too. I would love to be able to get down on one of these now I’m just too old for scuba.
been done.. look up the bob. i saw it on “the next step” in the 90′s
@tdhelder /sarcams on- right, because getting more people into fragile ecosystems is good for the local flora and fauna, and wasting energy where most folks can swim is awesome.
/sarcasm off
i can see this as potentially *awesome* for folks confined to a wheelchair (with a bucket of safety precautions), but it’s not at all green. it’s conspicuous consumption of a very spendy toy. it’s *REALLY* cool, but does not qualify as “green design”
A device like that can promote underwater ecotourism the battery is rechargeable, all you would need to do is install a set of solar cells and you’ve got yourself a good little business. Also by introducing people to the actual close up tours of reefs and the underwater depths, you could be helping to change attitudes about pollution and its effects on our environment. As for the expense, most things are a bit pricey when the first come out, but they will come down in price.
seriously?
someone tell me how an expensive underwater scooter is green. seriously, it’s really cool, but how in the firey monkey gods is this green design saving the world?
