Luca Casarotto of Cosca Design in Northern Italy sent us over some images of their new Penta lamp. Made of recycled polyethylene, the lamp folds and contorts to create the optimum lighting for your mood. While open, the lamp’s light diffuses to fill a room and when folded shut, it can be concentrated for tasks and spotlighting. And the lamp comes flat-packed for fuel economy to boot!
What is the light source in this lamp? LED? Compact fluorescent? Halogen? Interesting concept…
The light source must be pure inspiration… Don\’t know but I\’d like to hear it. I\’m also interested in learning more about polyethylene and its use in electrical applications. The data I can find says it has \”excellent electrical properties,\” but I\’m not sure exactly what this means–high conductivity? good insulation value? Seems relevant since polyethylene doesn\’t do well at high temps…
On the design side, it\’s pretty attractive don\’t you think? Definitely fits into the category of versatile without being gimmicky.
