All of the apartments have views facing two different directions, which encourages natural cross-ventilation. Private balconies are placed in a checkerboard pattern to minimize shadow casting from the floor above. Rainwater is collected from the roof and used to irrigate the landscape, which has been planted to minimize water use. The facade facing the street is white terracotta, the interior is formed out of untreated wood, and exterior aluminum frames prevent thermal bridging. Apartments are accessed via semi-private staircases and entrances to each apartment can easily be converted into office space, making the apartments adaptable over the long-term.
