Ecologia Montreal: Single Family Residence Aims to be the First LEED Platinum Home in Montreal

<a href="http://www.ecologiamontreal.com/">Ecologia Montréal</a> is a home produced by an organization who's mission is to reduce the ecological footprint of homes, and they hope that this single family dwelling will be certified as Montréal's first <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/leed-platinum/">LEED Platinum</a> home. Architectural designer Gervais Fortin collaborated with the owner of Ecologia Montréal to reduce the footprint of this home by using locally-sourced materials.

The owner's contemporary design aesthetic can be seen in the furniture, the clean lines of the home, and the pure materiality of the finishes.

All indoor furniture is locally made with durable and Eco-friendly materials.

The white ash floors are also very textual and bright, while they hide radiant piping below.

Large windows help to bring in daylighting so that the colder winter months are not as hard to bare.

Pure and simple contemporary furnishing help to accent the details of the home, such as the exposed ceiling framing.

The interiors of the home are very impressive! A local artisan crafted a hemp and lime wall mixture so that the interior walls did not contain gypsum or paint.

Double glazed windows also help to keep the heat loss to a minimum during the Canadian winters.

A real portion of maintaining well-being within a home is the home's ability to interact with nature. The pure and simple correlation of this home to nature through a large glazed facade helps with this.
