Kjellgren Kaminsky Architects Unveils Plans for Largest Passive School in Sweden

<a href="http://www.kjellgrenkaminsky.se/projects/212-kollaskolan.html">Kjellgren Kaminsky Architects</a> won first prize to design Kollaskolan, an 8,000-square-meter passive house school that may well be Sweden's largest. An improvement to an existing facility in Kungsbacka, the mixed-use facility will comprise a main school building with a 6,500-square-meter footprint and a 2,500-square-meter sports block, along with a few small buildings - all of which are designed to meet Sweden's strict <a href="http://inhabitat.com/tag/passive-house/">passive house energy efficiency standards</a>.

By harvesting existing energy produced by people and appliances, the project reduces its overall energy requirement

Superior insulation and sensible cladding contribute to the project's energy efficiency

Lots of green areas are available to the kids as well.

There will be a school building, a sports block and then a handful of smaller buildings
