Deck the halls with reusable water bottles! Tra la la la la…. The holiday spirit is about kindness and generosity towards your fellow man, and what better way to express that thoughtfulness than a reusable aluminum water bottle from Sigg? Every year over 50 billion plastic waters are sent to landfill in this country – despite the fact that tap water is as clean, safe, and way cheaper than bottled water.

Thank you for posting this! I now have the perfect gift idea for my husband. Of course, I’ll buy one for myself as well
Are they recyclable or made from recycled aluminum?
Thanks… Must say they’re great. We have 4 at home for about a year and totally love them! Clean and beautiful!
I bought a SIGG aluminum bottle as an alternative to Nalgene’s plastic bottles, as biphenol A is of concern. Unfortunately, the fine print on a SIGG claims the bottles are not to be used for long term storage. This is troubling, as that is for what they are typically used and the company also does not reveal what material lines the inside of the bottles. I would consider a pyrex-like glass container for long term water storage, as glass is pretty safe and does not degrade in the recycling process.
Over on treehugger there’s a nice discussion about bisphenol in Nalgene’s bottles, vs. aluminium from Sigg’s. Bottom line is they’re both not very good. One alternative (no affiliation) is Klean Kanteen, which is made from stainless steel, so can’t leach aluminium or plastic nasties. And of course there’s always glass, if you’re careful!
I have one already, a basic black number, but I want the red one with the stylized skull for Christmas.
Virgil, I read quite a bit about the SIGG bottles some time ago, and they are lined and do not leach aluminium, at least the current models. Extensive testing )has been done in Europe and they seem very safe.
We’ve had quite a few of them over the years, really nice bottles.
I totally disagree with tap water being as safe and clean as bottled water. If you think that fluoride, chloramine, chloride, and the many other contaminants (some from toxic waste) in tap water are safe and clean, you need to think again before recommending it …
I’m betting no one’s saying that fluoride, chloride, etc is safe and clean… and think the message is that studies have shown that almost ALL bottled water companies USE tap water ~ or worse, as regulations on water from bottled water companies are far more lax than for cities and their tap water… consider that perhaps.
