resort with all of the latest eco amenities before, but if you want your next vacation to be die-hard green, how about checking out a hotel with no electricity or showers? Known as "Sweden's most primitive hotel,"
Kolarbyn is a encampment of 12 grass and fern blanketed wooden huts that offer a true eco-experience. We have to warn you though - the resort (which has been known to be visited by brown bears and wolves) is not for the faint of heart. Located in a forest glade a few hours from Stockholm, the resort is perfect for anyone who wants an authentic rustic cabin experience. Each wooden hut features a green roof draped with grass, ferns and even wild strawberries and raspberries! While each cabin is equipped with a stove, there are no showers en suite so be ready to rough it. Luckily, there is a sauna located nearby for guests who simply must bathe.
Aside from the lack of plumbing (there are outhouses scattered around the encampment, in case you were wondering about that), Kolarbyn boasts major energy savings due to the fact that it has no electricity. All of the cabins are heated the old fashioned way, and in the winter, wood chopping is part of the guests’ itinerary. And for those who really want to take a walk on the wild side, Kolarbyn offers some incredible activities like a beaver safari, moose hike and an award winning wolf walking tour.

There is another house, which you should see: The Leaf house, which is the most artistic house in the world: “The form of the Leaf House is unique. By day it resembles a strange hat or misshapen boat; by night a Jack O’ Lantern, glowing from within, its windows evoking the abstracted eyes and mouth of some Finnish folklore giant.
