Hiroshi Nakamura and NAP Architects’ New Green-Roofed Tokyo Plaza Features a Dizzying Kaleidoscopic Entrance

The public space is designed to offer shoppers a place to relax, and the lush terrace features plenty of trees, tables and steps where people can meet, sit and enjoy a meal. One of the urban oasis' most eye-catching features is the&nbsp;kaleidoscope-like escalator entrance, which is made from dozens of tilted mirrors.

The entrance to Tokyu Plaza Omotesando is through a kaleidoscope-like tunnel that reflects fashionable visitors in a dazzling effect.

Attracting people as well as plenty of birds and butterflies, the trees all around it help filtering noise, excess sun and purifying the air.

Multifunctional steps were created all around the terrace allow people to sit comfortably or use them, as well as hiding bulky tree roots.

The roof garden’s heart has an hexagonal communal table with trees sprouting and a glazed core that lets the light and come out through the building’s kaleidoscope entrance.

But passing the shops and right at the top, a green terrace is the perfect place for chilling out surrounded by plants, trees, birds and other people.

A unique secluded space within one of the world’s busiest shopping districts, this green roof garden provides a break to the most fashionable ones.
