HotTug: A Floating Hot Tub and an Electric Motorboat All-in-One!

Rotterdam-based <a href="http://www.supergoed.nl/index.php?a=projecten&amp;id=57" target="_blank">Supergoed</a> has created the HotTug - a combination hot tub boat that allows you to navigate harbors and lakes while relaxing in a Jacuzzi! This brilliant water vehicle is powered by a wood stove that heats the water inside while providing <a href="http://inhabitat.com/ebuggy-e-mobility-concept-gives-electric-cars-the-power-to-travel-any-distance/" target="_blank">energy for mobility</a>.

The four-meter-long boat is made from wood <a href="http://inhabitat.com/solar-powered-floating-island-is-an-off-shore-eco-retreat/solar-floating-resort-by-michele-puzzolante-5/" target="_blank">reinforced with fiberglass</a>.

The stove is made from stainless steel and equipped with a double-layer stack, and it can heat the water up to 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 degrees Fahrenheit) without the danger of passengers getting burned.

The boat can also be equipped with a folding fireplace, enabling it to pass under bridges of just 50cm height.

The <a href="http://www.hottug.nl/over.htm" target="_blank">HotTug</a> can be powered by an integrated electric motor and <a href="http://inhabitat.com/new-graphene-lithium-air-batteries-increase-energy-density-and-decrease-costs/" target="_blank">batteries</a> that provide enough energy for two to eight hours of travel, depending on the model.

For rentals, the designers have developed a system that reduces energy use by reusing heat from the water.

The HotTug makers first presented their design in September 2012 at Amsterdam’s Hiswa Boatshow.

They are now exploring the possibility of expanding production and making the vehicles available for recreational uses in areas such as IJlst Werf, a former Dutch shipyard that has been transformed into a center for <a href="http://inhabitat.com/the-wibit-sports-park-is-an-amazing-inflatable-adventure-island/" target="_blank">water sports</a>.
