Parisian architects Nadau Lavergne have designed an incredible wooden theater and restaurant for the La Rive Domain campsite near the Landes forest in France. Vacationers can relax and be entertained in the green-roofed structures set amidst a pine forest. The restaurant offers culinary treats, tapas, and drinks at the bar, making it an ideal retreat after a day in the sun at the campsite’s nearby beach.

The campsite is located at the edge of Lake Biscarosse, which has a strip of native trees separating the two, which grants the campgrounds privacy, while preserving the serenity of the landscape.

Both the restaurant and theater were constructed with wood to echo this strip of trees near the lake, and not to interrupt the landscape.

The two storey theater is supported by zigzagged pine beams that created triangles around the first floor perimeter which shelter the patio and entrance created by it.

Inside, the open plan roundabout is focused around a central viewing area on the first floor, and lined with a second floor balcony mezzanine. A strip of windows line the entire mezzanine, and flood both levels with light.

Adjacent to the airy theater is the restaurant. Clad in timber as well, the circular volume is comprised of a semi-circle kitchen with a surrounding dining area. Glass curtains flood the interior with light and connect the diners with the campground. The roof of the restaurant is planted with greenery, to prevent solar gain, filter rainwater, and also further tie in the structure with the land. In the interior, lush plants are hung and planted in the center of the circular structure as well.

Both buildings were constructed, along with an employee building, to harmonize with the campground, and create a welcoming respite for campers for years to come.
